Sudburians are invited to attend a concert featuring young talent just emerging from three days of intense workshops to hone their craft. La Brunante (Dusk) will be held at Collège Boréal in Greater Sudbury this coming Sunday May 26, at 7 pm.

Xavier (né Boucher) is from North Bay. He is a singer songwriter who picked up the guitar for the first time at age 7. Sudbury audiences discovered him at le Bistro des découvertes, an event presented at Place des Arts this past autumn. The other two groups come from local high schools. MacKenzie Dutrisac, Luna Fox and Olivia Nistico are students at École secondaire MacDonald Cartier, traditionally a hothouse of theatre and music.

Le Éthos is a five-person band from École secondaire Hanmer made up of Liam McLeish (base, guitar, vocal), Mayson Pelland (piano), Xavier Frappier (violin), Devan Proulx (base, guitar, vocal) and Trenton Moffat on drums. You can imagine the songs and sounds you will hear from this talented team.

Well known singer, songwriter, storyteller and actor, Stef Paquette, will host the event. And he’s promised to bring his guitar for a few tunes. Stef is also one of the professional coaches working with the young talent. He himself is a graduate of la Brunante nearly 30 years ago. The other coaches are well known producer and artistic director Dan Bédard along with multi talented Patricia Cano and Simon Jutras. La Brunante was created by La Nuit sur l’étang in November 1982 to foster young talent on stage and off stage. More than 400 performers have attended the workshops.

Tickets: $10 go to www.lanuit.ca All those who hold a ticket for la Nuit émergente will be granted entry.

Brunante performers will benefit from additional packages and training provided by Media Concepts, Jack-Indie-Box, Vailstar Communications and Station 84.
